Jacobie Introduction
Hello! My name is Jacobie and I am an undergraduate student at Florida State University. I am from a small town in Florida called DeFuniak Springs it is very close to the Gulf of Mexico. My family currently lives in North Carolina and I visit them on breaks from school when I can. I really enjoy being outside, working out, and participating in extreme sports. Some sports I enjoy watching and doing are mixed martial arts, golf, surfing and skydiving.
Technology is a big part of my life and I try to buy every new piece of technology I can find. I recently got the Oculus Quest 2 which has been really cool to use and play on with friends. I also watch a lot of YouTube, listen to podcasts on Spotify, and read a lot on Reddit. YouTube is one of the biggest forms of media and technology that I use for educational purposes. I have also used technology like video editing software and computer programs to complete projects for school and work.
I regularly use personal learning networks like personal trainers in the gym, YouTube for any information I need, and books for educational and life advice. Personal learning networks are a large part of my life and are very important in learning new skills and information. I get a majority of my information from YouTube due to how accessible and vast its information is. For me Youtube is also my favorite form of personal learning networks because of how many different types of videos I can find and watch on the platform.
Hi Jake, the Oculus Quest 2 sounds so cool! Are you playing games using the headsets? Have you ever thought about using VR for learning purposes? Many people in my program (Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies) are looking into how virtual reality can support students learn; I encourage you to think about it while having fun! :)
ReplyDeleteIn terms of your PLN, it appears like you make extensive use of social media for learning, which is fantastic! On the other hand, we are constantly bombarded with a plethora of information with varied quality. So, I'm curious how you evaluate online information from those sources.
